Stephen Joshua Sondheim (IPA: ˈsɒnd.haɪm ; 22. marta 1930 — 26. novembar 2021) je američki kompozitor i tekstopisac, poznat kao autor brojnih uspješnih broadwayskih mjuzikala. Među mjuziklima kojima je napisao muziku i tekst se ističu A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, Sunday in the Park with George i Into the Woods, a napisao je i tekst za West Side Story i Gypsy. Za svoje je djelo nagrađen Oscarom (za pjesmu "Sooner or Later (I Always Get My Man)" u filmu Dick Tracy), sa osam nagrada Tony, uključujući Tony za životno djelo,^[1] brojnim Grammyjima, Pulitzerovom nagradom i nagradom Laurence Olivier.

Sondheim je također poznat i po tome što je od 1973. do 1981. bio predsjednik sindikata Dramataičarskog ceha Amerike. Godine 2010. je u čast njegovog 80. rođendana Henry Miller's Theatre preimenovan u Stephen Sondheim's Theatre.
