Badfinger je bio britanski rock bend koga su originalno sačinjavali Pete Ham, Ron Griffiths, Mike Gibbins i Tom Evans, a koji je s prekidima djelovao od 1968. do 1983. Nastao je o benda The Iveys koji su Ham, Griffiths i David "Dai" Jenkins formirali u velškom gradu Swansea ranih 1960-ih. Nakon odlaska Griffithsa se bendu priključio Joey Molland 1969. godine. Nakon što su se povezali sa Beatlesovom diskografskom kućom Apple 1968. kao The Iveys, sljedeće godine su preuzeli ime 1969. Godine 1970. i 1971. je Badfinger zabilježio četiri svjetska hita "Come and Get It" (napisao i producirao Paul McCartney), "No Matter What", "Day After Day" i "Baby Blue". Njihova najpoznatija pjesma "Without You", koju su napisali Ham i Evans, je, međutim, postala daleko vić hit u izvedbi Harryja Nilssona.

Godine 1970. je bend angažirao američkog biznismena Stana Polleya da im vodi financije. Tokom sljedećih godina su snimili niz albuma i održali niz turneja, ali su postale žrtve kaosa nastalog raspadom tvrtke Apple Records. Potpisali su ugovor sa diskografskom kućom Warner Bros., ali su Polleyeve financijske makinacije dovele do tužbe od strane Warner Bros. kao i povlačenja albuma Wish You Were Here 1974. iz prodaje, što je članove benda ostavilo bez prihoda. Ham je 24. aprila 1975. izvršio samoubistvo, ostavivši poruku u kojoj za svoju smrt krivi Polleya.

Preživjeli članovi su sljedećih nekoliko godina pokušavali izgraditi karijere opterećeni stalnim sudskim tužbama. Albumi Airwaves (1978) i Say No More (1981) nisu uspjeli, a Molland i Evans nisu dobro surađivali u pokušaju da obnove i sačuvaju bend. Evans, koji je bio među prvima koji je vidio Hamovo truplo, nikada nije prebolio gubitak prijatelja i često govorio da "želi biti gdje je i on". ^[1] 19. novembra 1983. je Evans također izvršio samoubistvo vješanjem, a što je označilo konačni kraj benda.
