Atherstone

Atherstone je grad u engleskoj grofoviji Warwickshire. Smješten je na krajnjem sjeveru Warwickshirea, blizu granice sa Staffordshireom i Leicestershireom te predstavlja upravno sjedište North Warwickshirea.

Grad ima dugu i bogatu historiju, s obzirom da se u njegovoj neposrednoj blizini nalazio Mandusedum, grad iz rimskog perioda perioda gdje se, prema nekim historijskim špekulacijama, vodila znamenita bitka kod Watling Streeta.

Grad je poznat po tome što se više od 800 godina na dan pred Pepelnicu na njegovim ulicama igra dvosatna "slobodna" igra s loptom koja se smatra jednom od preteča modernog fudbala.
