Aseksualnost

Aseksualnost (takođe neseksualnost[1]), u najširem smislu, je odsustvo seksualne orijentacije[2][3] ili nedostatak interesovanja i želje za seksom.[4][5] Istraživanje koje je sproveo stručnjak za ljudsku seksualnost, Entoni Bogert sa univerziteta Brok u Ontariju, pokazalo je da učestalost aseksualnosti iznosi 1% u ukupnoj populaciji odraslih osoba.[6]

Aseksualnost se razlikuje od apstinencije od seksualne aktivnosti, koja ima veze sa ponašanjem, i od celibata, koji najčešće ima korene u religioznosti osobe.[7] Seksualna orijentacija je, za razliku od ponašanja, po definiciji trajnija.[8] Neke aseksualne osobe upražnjavaju seks, uprkos činjenici da nemaju želju za seksom.[9]
