Jerron Cage (born November 25, 1998) is an American professional football defensive tackle for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football at Ohio State.[1][2]
College career
Cage was ranked as a four–star recruit by 247Sports.com coming out of Winton Woods High School.[1][3] He committed to Ohio State on July 21, 2015, over offers from Cincinnati, Kentucky, and Louisville.[4][5] His first start for Ohio State was in the 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship in place of fellow defensive tackle Tommy Togiai, who tested positive for COVID-19.[6] On October 31, 2021, Cage recovered a fumble by Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford and took it 57 yards for a touchdown.[7][8] Prior to the 2023 NFL draft, he accepted an invitation to play in the Hula Bowl.[9]
Professional career
New Orleans Saints
Cage signed with the New Orleans Saints after going undrafted in the 2023 NFL draft.[2][10][11] He was waived on August 29, 2023.[12]
Montreal Alouettes
On January 29, 2024, Cage signed with the Montreal Alouettes.[13][14]
Personal life
Cage's son, Jerron Jr., was born in June 2020.[15][16][17]
